After combing over statistics and results, and with the guidance of local athletic directors and coaches, we at the Daily News selected All-Stars for boys and girls basketball, boys and girls hockey, boys and girls swimming, boys and girls track and field, gymnastics, skiing and boys and girls wrestling.

Although the sports and skill sets may vary, there’s no denying that this group put up otherworldly numbers this winter while helping their respective teams find success – whether that be on the court, field, ice, mat or track, or in the gym or pool.

The Daily News presents its 2023-24 All-Stars for girls hockey:

Avery Bent, Dover-Sherborn

The captain, center and lone senior on the Hopkinton/Dover-Sherborn co-op team was named a Tri-Valley League all-star after scoring four goals with five assists, finishing her varsity career with 20 goals and 14 assists. “As our only senior, Avery was a great leader that helped create a positive culture for a team with many younger players,” said Hopkinton/D-S coach Ronald Chin. “Avery set the example on the ice in games and practices with her play and voice.”

Izzy Brown, Franklin

The junior goaltender was a brick wall once again this winter, notching a .923 save percentage and a 2.67 goals against average on her way to a third straight Hockomock League all-star nod. “Izzy’s been our backbone all year and constantly steps up to make big saves in big moments,” said Panthers coach Mike Lubin, whose team reached the Division 1 state tournament.

Addy Cagan, Algonquin

The sophomore goalie was a major factor in Algonquin reaching another Division 2 state semifinals, earning the program’s 7th Player Award while notching a .920 save percentage and a 1.74 goals against average along with seven shutouts. “Addy’s determination and drive has proven that she is a formidable force against opponents and that she is only going to continue to be that brick wall that the Titans need,” said Titans coach Tina Beauchemin. Cagan enjoys doing jiu jitsu and Muay Thai, baking, sketching and walking her dogs.
