Davis and Zeev Buium Earn HCA Monthly Awards

DENVER (DU/HCA)— University of Denver hockey junior goaltender Matt Davis was named the Hockey Commissioners Association Men’s Player of the Month and freshman defenseman Zeev Buium was named the HCA’s Men’s Rookie of the Month, the association announced on Friday.

The Most Outstanding Player at the Frozen Four, Davis led Denver to its second national title in three seasons. He allowed only one goal in the two games in Saint Paul, logging a 35-save shutout against No. 1 Boston College in the final. Davis posted a .986 save percentage and a 0.46 GAA at the Frozen Four, with 68 saves on 69 shots to tie the Frozen Four save percentage record.

Buium was named to the 2024 Frozen Four All-Tournament Team. He had a spinning, primary assist on DU’s second goal in the national title game to provide an insurance marker. It was Denver’s NCAA Division I men’s hockey record 10th NCAA National Championship. Buium was +1 on the weekend.
