Two of the top local hockey teams and in Division 2 across the state shared the ice Saturday night as Trenton hosted longtime Downriver League rival Allen Park for the first of potentially two matchups this season.
Both teams came into the heaveyweight tilt with a combined record of 17-2-3 overall. Trenton put a five-game win streak on the line while Allen Park had won four of its previous five games overall. It was also the first game for both sides since before Christmas.
After seeing one goal scored in the opening period, both teams exploded for five combined goals in the second. It all added up to an eventual 4-2 victory for the home Trojans over the visiting Jags.
