Southern edges past Marlboro-Holmdel for road win

Andrew Buda scored twice to push Southern to a 2-1 win over Marlboro-Holmdel at Middletown Ice World.

Buda gave Southern (1-1) a 1-0 lead with a power play goal in the opening period and doubled the lead with a shorthanded goal early in the second period.

McLein Barenbaum made 60 saves in the win.

Alen Grigorian scored for Marlboro-Holmdel (1-2) in the second period.

Jack Primiani made 29 saves in the loss.
