A total team effort propelled Princeton to a 4-0 win over Sacred Heart to start a home-and-home series on the road at Martire Family Arena.

Brendan Gorman scored twice for his first career multi-goal game and tied a career high with three total points, while Adam Robbins had a goal and a career-high two assists to set a new career best with a three-point night.

Connecticut native Arthur Smith made 21 saves for his first career shutout, improving to 4-2-0 this season.

After giving up nine power-play goals over their last four games, Princeton held Sacred Heart – the nation’s No. 4-ranked power play scoreless on five attempts

Brendan Gorman got the front of the net just past the midway mark of the first period, redirecting a Noah de la Durantaye wrister from the point to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead 10:29 into the game. Adam Robbins picked up the secondary assist, putting together a one-man cycle along the halfwall before dishing back to de la Durantaye to reset the attack and set up the looping wrister that Gorman got a stick on at hip level to sneak the puck through an Ian Murphy screen and in.

Gorman doubled his production with a second-chance goal in the tail end of the second period. Adam Robbins won a faceoff back to Gorman whose original shot ran into Ian Murphy but caromed back to Gorman for a second attempt which beat Chase Clark for a 2-0 lead after two periods.

In the third, Robbins was the one to net a deflection goal, redirecting a Mike Kennedy shot while crossing through the slot to give Princeton a 3-0 lead 2:13 into the third period. Gorman had the second assit, working the puck back to Kennedy to start the scoring sequence.

Jack Cronin added a short-handed empty-netter with 3:00 left to ice the game.
