Boys Ice Hockey: Chatham, Middletown North tie in Gold Out for Kids Fight Cancer game (Photos)

Chatham, No. 11 in the NJ.com Top 20, and Middletown North played to a 4-4 tie as part of a Gold Out Game as part of the Hockey in Middletown Helps Kids Fighting Cancer event at Middletown Ice Rink.

Both Middletown North and Middle South are hosting Gold Out games in January to benefit Infinite Love for Kids Fighting Cancer in memory of Middletown resident Luca Iacono who passed away to Rhabdomyosarcoma in 2019 at the age of 11. So far, $17,275.08 has been raised for Infinite Love for Kings Fighting Cancer.

Chatham (8-1-2) tied the game at 4-4 when Ronan Curry scored his second goal of the day, an unassisted, even-strength goal with 5:52 left in the third period. It was the third time Chatham rallied to tie the game. Curry evened the score at 2-2 with a goal 2:07 into the second period and Nikita Konevych tied the game at 3-3 on a power play goal with 10:02 remaining in the third period. Luc D’Costa scored a goal and both Ryan Burke and Matt Nacinavich added two assists each, while Snowden Lange made 23 saves.

Andrew Gross had a goal and an assist for Middletown North (4-4-3), which took a 2-0 lead on first period goals by Joseph Wall and Ryan Cook. Thomas Baron made it 4-3 on a goal with 6:01 remaining, but Curry tied the game just nine seconds later.

Luke Chrzan made 24 saves for Middletown North.

Middletown South’s Gold Out game is on Jan. 31 against Rumson-Fair Haven.
