COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State’s Kate Lipton was among 11 coaches who took part in a Level 3 coaching course in conjunction with USA Field Hockey’s Senior Nexus Championship in late July.
The lead educators were Craig Parnham and Caroline Nelson-Nichols. In addition to sharing information and coaching techniques, the group had the chance to give presentations and network on and off the field.
Lipton enters her eighth season with the Buckeyes this fall. In 2021, she was promoted to associate head coach. During her time in Columbus, Lipton has recruited and coached players that have gone on to secure both conference and national honors. In June of 2021, Lipton coached Team Brave at the Young Women’s National Championship, which was part of Team USA’s selection process for the 2021-22 U.S. U-21/ U-22 and Women’s National Development Teams.
Lipton, who came to Ohio State from Indiana prior to the 2015 season, is a member of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, the USA Field Hockey Association and also owns USHFA Level III Coaching Accreditation. She’s been an integral part in the Buckeyes’ 60 wins since her arrival, highlighted in the spring of 2021 with an appearance in the Big Ten Tournament championship game.
