Czechia’s Adela Sapovalivova and Andrea Trnkova registered three points apiece as Czechia opened round-robin play at the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women’s World Championship with a dominant 4-0 win over rival Slovakia.
Sapovalivova contributed a pair of goals, while Trnkova scored and set up two. Forward Tereza Plosova tallied a pair of assists for the Czechs, while goalkeeper Michaela Hesova earned the shutout with a 16-save effort.
Defender Eliska Hotova scored a power play goal for the Czechs.
Medvidova finished with 37 saves.
Next on the schedule for Czechia is Germany on Tuesday at 4 p.m. Slovakia will face Switzerland in the 8 p.m. contest that day.
