Winning at the Bell Centre this season may not carry the cache it normally does, but that’s no reason for the Boston Bruins to apologize for stealing away two points on Monday night.

Brad Marchand scored 34 seconds into overtime, giving the B’s a 3-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens in their first trip to Quebec since Nov. 26, 2019. The Habs, with just 44 points, are tied with the Arizona Coyotes and expansion Seattle Kraken for fewest in the NHL.

It was far from a perfect evening for Marchand, despite scoring two of Boston’s three goals, but his overall performance raises some questions about just how Bruce Cassidy should construct his lineup when captain Patrice Bergeron returns.

Here are some takeaways from the win, which moved the Bruins into a tie with the Toronto Maple Leafs for third place in the Atlantic Division with 83 points:
