BOSTON – Seven former Boston University men’s ice hockey standouts will compete in the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs, with the first round to begin on Monday night.
Three Terriers – Charlie Coyle, Matt Grzelcyk and Charlie McAvoy – will skate for the hometown Boston Bruins in their first-round series with the Carolina Hurricanes that begins Monday in Raleigh. McAvoy led all Boston defensemen with 10 goals and 56 points, and was second on the entire squad with 46 assists, en route to winning the team’s Eddie Shore Award for demonstrating exceptional hustle and determination throughout the season. Coyle finished the year with 16 goals and 28 assists for 44 points in all 82 games while Grzelcyk recorded a career-best 24 points thanks to four goals and a career-high 20 assists.
