Seifarth Shines as Men’s Hockey Downs Colgate, 3-2 – Penn State

Seifarth earns his first collegiate victory moving to 1-0-0 on the year following a career-best 25 saves while his counterpart, Takacs, falls to 6-3-1 after stopping 39 shots in the loss.

NOTES

  • Penn State held the commanding 42-27 edge in shots on goal, its highest shot total of the season, while going 1-for-3 on the man-advantage and a perfect 2-for-2 on the penalty kill. The Nittany Lions have yet to surrender a man-advantage tally in its six non-conference games this season.
  • Penn State moves to 5-1-0 in non-conference play this season and are now 50-7-1 in regular season non-conference games since the start of the 2018-19 season including a 23-3-0 mark over the past two-plus seasons.
  • This marks the seventh game in 12 games this season decided by one goal as the Nittany Lions are now 3-4-0 in such games.
  • Fink extends his goal streak to five games tying his career-long from a season ago.
  • With his first period assist, Dowd Jr. inches closer to history as he sits just four assists shy of Cole Hults’ record for a defenseman of 61.
  • With one goal and one assist, Cerrato secures his fifth multi-point effort of the season.
  • Christenson had a pair of assists on the night registering the first multi-point game of his collegiate career.
  • Dowiak has now tied his career-best three-game point streak following his first period assist while Christenson and freshman JJ Wiebusch (Verona, Wis.) each extend their point streaks to three games.
  • Penn State again controlled the dot winning 61 percent (36-for-59) of the draws in the game paced by Dowiak who went 10-for-14 (71.4 percent) and freshman Charlie Cerrato who was 9-for-13 (64.3 percent).
