Kiefer Sherwood has been a hit machine this season. The Vancouver Canucks forward leads the NHL in hits and has thrown 125 through his first 19 games. While he is on pace to smash the record for hits in a season, he also tied an NHL hit record during Vancouver’s 4-3 victory over the Ottawa Senators.

On Saturday night, Sherwood recorded ten hits for the fourth time this season. For compassion, William Carrier and Will Cuylle are the only other two players to achieve the feat, with each throwing ten hits once during the 2024-25 season. Once Sherwood landed his tenth hit, which occurred against Thomas Chabot, 17:05 into the third, he etched himself into the record books, tying Tommy Wingles and Jeremy Lauzon for the most 10+ hit performances in a single season.
Wingles originally set the record during the 2013-14 season when he was with the San Jose Sharks. He recorded two ten-hit games, which came against the Boston Bruins and L.A. Kings, an 11-hit game against the Kings and a 12-hit game against the Edmonton Oilers. By the end of the season, Wingles finished 18th in the NHL for hits, throwing 218 over his 77 games.
As for Lauzon, he recorded four 10+ hit games last season when he was a teammate with Sherwood on the Nashville Predators. Just like Wingles, Lauzon recorded two ten-hit games, with those coming against the New Jersey Devils and the Canucks, an 11-hit game against the Arizona Coyotes and a 12-hit game against the Vegas Golden Knights.
