Canadiens Announce Condotta Will Make Season Debut

The Hockey News - Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens announced this afternoon that Lucas Condotta will make his 2024-25 season debut against the New Jersey Devils on Thursday night in Newark.

The 27-year-old, who has served as captain of the Laval Rocket in the AHL this season, was called up on Wednesday (for the second time this year) once the Canadiens loaned forward Oliver Kapanen to Timrå IK in Sweden.

Thus far, Condotta has played four NHL games, one in 2022-23 and three in 2023-24. Famously, he scored his first NHL goal on his first shot during his first shift on Apr. 13, 2023.

In nine games with the Rocket this season, Condotta had four assists with nine penalty minutes and is plus-1, ranking 10th in scoring.

Meanwhile, Montreal announced that Sam Montembeault will start in goal as the club looks to snap a four-game winless streak.

The Canadiens are hoping to avoid dropping five consecutive contests, which happened once last year during a stretch against Metropolitan Division rivals, including their fifth loss against the Devils on Feb. 24.
