The Bridgeport Islanders, American Hockey League affiliate of the New York Islanders, are coming home to host the Hartford Wolf Pack at 1 p.m. this afternoon for their final preseason tune-up.
The game is closed to the general public but fans can follow all of the action with live updates via the team’s official X account. Check back for the game lineup later this afternoon.
The in-state rivals have already met once this preseason. The Isles rallied in the third period on Thursday but came up short in a 5-4 loss to the Wolf Pack at the Koeppel Community Sports Center on the campus of Trinity College in Hartford. Forwards Joey Cipollone, Jack Randl, William Dufour and Matt Maggio all scored, while Henrik Tikkanen went the distance and made 18 saves in net.
“There’s a lot of things we need to work on but it was nice to see us show some fight in the third period and battle back,” said Dufour, reflecting on Thursday’s effort. “We’re looking to get off to a better start [on Saturday] and I’m excited to play a game on home ice again.”
Opening Night: The quest for the Calder Cup begins next Saturday, Oct. 12th with a 7 p.m. puck drop against the Providence Bruins. In the team’s annual tradition, fans will be treated to a pre-game block party on the Total Mortgage Arena Plaza from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., featuring live music, food, and drink. Islanders’ fans will also have the opportunity to get their hands on new ‘Fisherman’ merchandise for the very first time. The first 2,500 fans will receive a Fisherman bucket hat and an LED bracelet when doors open at 6 p.m.
