Women’s Ice Hockey suffers late loss to Boston University, 4-3

Orono, Maine – The University of Maine women’s ice hockey team skated to a 4-3 loss to Boston University on Monday night. 

Maine played catch-up all game as the Terriers struck first on a power play opportunity in the first period. The back-and-forth game ended with Boston University’s Lacey Martin scoring with just two minutes and twenty-six seconds left in the game.

The Black Bears responded to Boston’s first three goals, playing most of the final period of the game tied up 3-to-3. Goal scorers for Maine were Ann-Frederique Guay, Rahel Enzler and Mikayla Boarder. Assists came from Jamie Grinder and Mira Seregély.

Julia Bachetti made 26 saves on 30 shots for the Black Bears. The team went 1-for-3 on the penalty kill and was outshot 30 to 26.

The Maine Black Bears return to Alfond Arena this weekend to host #14 Northeastern University for a pair of conference games. Friday’s puck drop is set for 6:00 PM, with Saturday’s set for 4:00 PM. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.
