HADLEY, Mass. – Wesleyan men’s ice hockey sophomore goaltender Marc Smith ’24 was announced as the NESCAC Player of the Week this afternoon. The news comes on the heels of a second straight winning weekend on the road as the Cardinals (9-8-1, 8-4-2 NESCAC) have won four straight – all of which have come on the road in conference play.
Smith was in top form over the weekend, starting strong with 24 saves in a 3-0 road win at Williams on Friday night. Not only was that Smith’s first career shutout but he became the first Cardinal goalie since 2013 to hold the Ephs scoreless on the road. Smith followed that up with a season and career-high 30 saves in Saturday’s 5-2 win at Middlebury. During Wesleyan’s current four-game win streak. Smith has started all four games and has given up two goals or less in all four while he is sporting a 1.25 goals…
