NHL names Bruins’ David Pastrnak No. 2 star for October originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston
Boston Bruins star David Pastrnak still doesn’t have a contract beyond the 2022-23 NHL season, but it’s not negatively impacting his on-ice performance.
In fact, it could be fueling Pastrnak to play at an even higher level.
The league announced Tuesday its three stars for the month of October, and Pastrnak was the No. 2 star. Edmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid was named No. 1 star and New York Rangers left winger Artemi Panarin was named No. 3 star.
Bruins’ hot start will be put to the test with three tough road games this week
The 26-year-old right winger tallied 16 points (seven goals, nine assists) in nine October games, helping lead the Bruins to a franchise-best 8-1 start.
Pastrnak posted at least one point in seven of those nine games, and he’s racked up nine points (four goals, five assists) over Boston’s last four matchups. He enters Tuesday’s road game against the Pittsburgh Penguins with a four-game goal streak, too.
Pastrnak’s 16 points are two behind McDavid for the league scoring lead.
