Maple Leafs’ Nicholas Robertson’s Trade Value Declining, Report Claims – The Hockey Writers –

The Toronto Maple Leafs could be looking to make some changes at the 2025 Trade Deadline in hopes of making a deep playoff run this season, but haven’t been very active on the trade front. They have been connected to players by individual pundits and reporters, but it doesn’t seem like they’re going to rush into a decision to make a massive trade. One player who will be getting watched closely is Nicholas Robertson, who has had his name mentioned in trade rumours for several seasons but hasn’t been dealt. According to a recent report from James Mirtle of The Athletic, it seems as though Robertson’s trade value is declining.

Mirtle writes:

“Maybe a non-playoff team will take a look for the last 20 games. He doesn’t make much, has been a point-a-game player in the minors and is an RFA at the end of the season, remaining under team control. But you’re looking at a fairly late draft pick as compensation, get excited if it’s a fourth.”

Robertson, who is 23 years old, was drafted by the Maple Leafs in the second round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft at 53rd overall after a strong season in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Peterborough Petes where he scored 27 goals and added 28 assists for 55 points through 54 games. He returned to the Petes in the 2019-20 season where he scored 55 goals and added 31 assists for 86 points through 46 games. He also earned the chance to represent the United States at the U20 World Junior Championship where he scored two goals and added three assists for five points through five games.

Robertson made his NHL debut in the 2020-21 season where he had one assist through six games. He played the majority of that campaign in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Toronto Marlies where he scored five goals and added 11 assists for 16 points through 21 games. The 2021-22 season was a bit stronger for Robertson, as he played 10 games with the Maple Leafs notching his first NHL goal, and had 28 points in 28 games with the Marlies. He only played 17 games total in the 2022-23 season, but 15 were with the Maple Leafs where he had five points in 15 games.
