The Bridgeport Islanders dropped a pair of home games against the Rochester Americans and Hartford Wolf Pack this past weekend, but there were a few things to take note of when it came to the scoresheets. Here are the ‘3 Stars of the Weekend’ for January 4-5, 2025.
1st Star: Alex Jefferies
Jefferies got the best of Amerks goalie Felix Sandstorm on the power play Saturday night, scoring his eighth goal of the season and fourth on the man advantage. Just like Brian Pinho, this was the first time Jefferies registered a goal/point since the Dec. 22 game in Charlotte. Half of Jefferies’ goals this season have come on the man advantage. He’s currently third on the team in goals and second in power-play goals. Jefferies is in a five-way tie among AHL rookies for power-play goals. Only Jonathan Lekkerimaki of the Abbotsford Cancuks has converted more times (6).
2nd Star: Brian Pinho
Pinho notched a power-play goal in the second period on Sunday aftenoon, the Islanders’ loan goal against the Wolf Pack. It was Pinho’s team-high 16th of the season, and his fifth goal on the man advantage, which also leads the team. He’s currently four goals shy of his career high (20), which he set back in 2019-20 as a member of the Hershey Bears.
3rd Star: Chris Terry
Terry was the only Islander to record multiple points this weekend, racking up two helpers between Saturday and Sunday. He has four points in the last five games (1g, 3a). Terry leads the team in assists (21) and is tied with Pinho for the team lead in points (25). He has also been the top producer on the power play with 11 points (1g 10a).
