Spartans Shut Out Lindenwood, 4-0

 East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State earned a 4-0 shutout over Lindenwood on Friday night at Munn Ice Arena to open the weekend series. 
 
The No. 1 Spartans got two goals in each the first and third periods, and a 29-save shutout from Trey Augustine, his second of the season.    Owen Bartoszkiewicz earned second star honors for his 52 saves, the most for an MSU opponent this season. 
 
Matt Basgall (power play) and Daniel Russell scored three goals just over three minutes apart midway through the opening period, which was all of the scoring in the game until the waning minutes.  Tommi Männistö scored his first of the season on a nifty play with just over three minutes remaining in regulation, working around a pair of defenders.  Isaac Howard (goal, assist) closed out the scoring by converting on a penalty shot with just 53 seconds remaining in the game. 
 

 
MSU outshot Lindenwood 56-29 and shut down five power play chances against.   
 
The teams finish out the two-game series on Sunday in a matinee contest.  The puck drops at Munn Ice Arena at 4 pm
