East Lansing, Mich. — Michigan State senior Ellie Rutherford (Edinburgh, Scotland) is among the list of 38 outstanding senior student – athletes who have been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I Senior Team.
Rutherford is among this prestigious list of student-athletes, representing 30 different Division I institutions. Paying tribute to their entire collegiate careers, the NFHCA is proud to acknowledge and celebrate these seniors for their accomplishments and impact on and off the field.
Each select 2024 student-athlete will receive a personalized engraved award commemorating this special recognition and be celebrated through a highlight video which can be viewed here.
“Im delighted for Ellie,” noted head coach Helen Knull. “She has proven to be a top player in our league and a mainstay for our program in the midfield. This is a great and well-deserved way for her to cap her career in Green & White.”
The senior recently completed her fourth season with the Spartans, appearing in 66 games. She tied or surpassed her career best in goals (4) assists (7) and points (15) in her final season, leading the team in assists and ranking second in points. She completed her MSU career with 16 goals and 12 assists for 44 points over her four seasons.
Rutherford will soon be named to the NFCHA Division I National Academic Squad for the third time in her career, and has earned Academic All-Big Ten honors in each of her three seasons of eligibility as well. She boasts a 3.674 GPA as a Management major.
