Senators look to cash-in at Scotiabank Arena in next round of Battle of Ontario – Belleville Sens

Belleville Senators Game Day Build-Up
Nov.16/24 @ Toronto Marlies (NHL Affiliate: Toronto Maple Leafs)

The Set Up:

With a six-game point streak ended by a tough loss to Syracuse on Wednesday, the Belleville Senators are looking to shake it off and begin again as they follow the Taylor Swift fans into Toronto and prepare for some more bad blood with the Marlies at Scotiabank Arena. Angus Crookshank’s team-leading seventh goal of the season was the biggest highlight for Belleville, who suffered just their second regulation loss of the season. But, even after earning points in all but one game, the Sens still find themselves trying to catch Toronto and other North Division foes, making picking up points in today’s third round of the AHL’s Battle of Ontario that much more important.

Previous History:

The Marlies are an opponent that the Senators know all too well, with 77 prior regular-season meetings between the two sides. Belleville holds a 38-32-2-5 lifetime record against Toronto, with a mark of 20-14-2-2 in Toronto. This is the third of 10 meetings this season, with both first two games ending in a shootout and each team winning on home ice. This is also the first of two games the Senators and Marlies will play at Scotiabank Arena, home of the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs. Belleville has had good success in the big building, at least on Boxing Day, with a 5-1-0-0 record.

Roster Notes:

Zack Ostapchuk’s reassignment from the NHL Senators to Belleville has caused a slight shuffle, with fellow forward Jake Chiasson being loaned to the Orlando Solar Bears (ECHL) on Friday. Chiasson, acquired from Edmonton as part of the return for Roby Jarventie, has dressed in four games for Belleville this season with no points. However, the Abbotsford, BC native had 20 points (nine goals, eleven assists) in 68 ECHL games with the Fort Wayne Komets in 2023-24.  A full list of up-to-date transactions can be found by clicking here, with full lineup details available via the club’s social channels (@bellevillesens) before the game.
