Vancouver Canucks Place Nils Åman On Waivers

The Hockey News

The Vancouver Canucks announced they have placed forward Nils Åman on waivers for the purposes of reassignment to the Abbotsford Canucks.

The 24-year-old has recorded two assists in four games with the Canucks this season, averaging 10:28 of time on ice per game.

He recorded seven points in 43 games for Vancouver and 15 points in 15 games for Abbotsford last season.

Originally a sixth round pick of the Colorado Avalanche, Åman has 25 points in 115 career NHL games, all with Vancouver.

Åman signed a two-year extension in Nov. 2023 that pays him $825,000 annually.

The Avesta, SWE., native has not produced much offense in the NHL but fact he has good size, is cheap and under contract through the 2025-26 season should make him an attractive claim target for teams looking for depth.

Already struggling to get in the lineup, the pending return of Dakota Joshua pushes Åman further down the Canucks depth chart.
