The Hockey News - Las Vegas Golden Knights

The Vegas Golden Knights have recalled goaltender Akira Schmid from the Henderson Silver Knights.

The Golden Knights acquired the 24-year-old netminder from the New Jersey Devils in the offseason, then signed the RFA to a two-year, $875,000 contract. He’s started his Golden Knights career in the AHL, posting a .885 SV% and a 3.56 GAA in six games. The Silver Knights are 1-5-0 in Schmid’s six starts.

The Golden Knights assigned Brendan Brisson to the Silver Knights on Thursday, opening up the roster spot and cap space to call up another player from the Silver Knights. With Victor Olofsson still on the IR, the Golden Knights elected to call up another goaltender, giving them three on the roster; Schmid, Adin Hill and Ilya Samsonov, but Samsonov was absent from today’s practice.
