Terps Earn No. 2 Seed as Maryland Set To Host B1G Field Hockey Tournament


COLLEGE PARK, MD — The Big Ten Conference released the official bracket for the 2024 Big Ten Field Hockey Tournament. The Terps will enter the tournament as the No. 2 seed and will face No. 7 Iowa on Thursday, November 7 at 2 p.m. Northwestern, the No. 1 seed, will have a bye in the first round.

The quarterfinals will air on Big Ten Plus with the semifinals and championship games being broadcast on Big Ten Network. 

The Terps are led by seniors Hope Rose and team captain Kylee Niswonger. Rose leads the team with 21 points and 11 goals this season, scoring a goal in four games in a row. Niswonger has contributed four goals in 13 games, including her first career hat trick against Lock Haven.  

Maryland is hosting the Big Ten Championship for the first time since 2016, when they reached the finals but fell to Penn State 2-1.

Thursday, November 7
11:00 AM: No. 5 Ohio State vs No. 4 Rutgers (Game 1)
2 PM: No. 7 Iowa vs. No. 2 Maryland (Game 2)
5 PM: No. 6 Indiana vs. No. 3 Michigan (Game 3)

Friday, November 8
Semifinals
1:00 PM: Winner of Game 1 vs. #1 Northwestern
3:30 PM: Winner of Game 2 vs. Winner of Game 3

Sunday, November 10
11:00 AM: Championship game
