After six long months, Belleville Sens fans finally got to welcome their team back to CAA Arena this past week, as the B-Sens returned to home ice to take on the Utica Comets (AHL affiliate of the New Jersey Devils) and the Syracuse Crunch (AHL affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning). Those fans were treated to a couple of exciting and physical matchups that saw Belleville split the points with a Saturday victory and a Sunday afternoon defeat.
Saturday, October 19, 2024: Belleville Senators – 5 vs Utica Comets – 4
The Belleville Senators earned a 5-4 win over the Utica Comets in their first home game of 2024-25 on Saturday, but what started as a promising evening became a nervy affair. The B-Sens dominated the first 30 minutes over the Comets, driving a confident atmosphere throughout CAA Arena. Cole Reinhardt led the Belleville attack with three points (one goal, two assists), Zack Ostapchuk and Donovan Sebrango each had a goal and an assist and Jeremy Davies scored his first as a Senator. Angus Crookshank tallied the eventual game-winner, while Leevi Merilainen stopped 19 of 23 shots to earn his second win of the seaason.
Sunday, October 20, 2024: Belleville Senators – 2 vs Syracuse Crunch – 5
After an action-packed win on home ice Saturday night over Utica, the Belleville Senators were back at it Sunday afternoon taking on the visiting Syracuse Crunch, but fell 5-2 in a physical, penalty-filled affair. B-Sens Captain Garrett Pilon had a goal and an assist and Jeremy Davies scored for the second straight night.
