ORONO, Maine — The No. 7/8 Quinnipiac University men’s ice hockey team fell 2-1 to No. 9/10 Maine on Friday night in the first of a two-game weekend featuring the top 10 foes.
The host Black Bears got out to a hot start, scoring a pair of first-period goals to give the home team the advantage.
First-year Tyler Borgula scored his first collegiate goal towards the end of the second period, ripping a one-timer from Davis Pennington into the bottom right corner to cut the deficit in half.

Another first year, Dylan Silverstein, made his first collegiate start between the pipes, recording 27 saves.
STATS AND NOTES
- Borgula became the second Bobcat in as many games to score his first goal in a Quinnipiac uniform.
- The first year’s tally was also Quinnipiac’s first power-play goal of the campaign.
- Chris Pelosi also added his first point as a Bobcat, winning the faceoff to start the play on the goal.
- Pennington recorded career point No. 49 and has points in back to back contests to begin the 2024-25 campaign.
