Jack Eichel and Mark Stone are on tears to start the season, reaching five-game points streaks but it wasn’t enough for the Vegas Golden Knights to hold off the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Both Eichel and Stone picked up assists on Brayden McNabb’s first goal of the season to give the Golden Knights the early advantage. With the assist, Stone has two goals and nine points in five games.

Eichel picked up another helper of Pavel Dorofeyev’s power play goal to give him 10 points on the season.

The Golden Knights held 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2 leads but couldn’t secure the two points. Brand Hagel scored with 2:22 left in the third period to tie the game at 3-3 before Nikita Kucherov scored his second of the game and league-leading sixth of the season to put the Lightning ahead with 55 seconds remaining.

After a 3-0 start at home, the Golden Knights have dropped two consecutive road games to Eastern Conference opponents. The final game of their road trip is on Saturday against the Stanley Cup-champion Florida Panthers. Eichel, Stone, Ivan Barbashev and Shea Theodore’s electric offensive start to the season is welcomed by the Golden Knights but defensive mishaps and shaky goaltending from Adin Hill have seen the team’s fast start, falter.

If the Golden Knights receive more depth scoring and consistent goaltending, they can right the ship and get back in the win column.
