On Wednesday, former Tampa Bay Lightning forward Pat Maroon joined Jonny Lazarus and Colby Cohen on their show “Morning Cuppa Hockey.”

The three-time Stanley Cup champion shared some exciting things about the 2020-21 playoff series against the New York Islanders.

“When you get on and off the ice, they’re right there just chirping you, throwing stuff at you,” Maroon said. “You kind of appreciate it. When they had long offensive zone time, they’d just be chanting like we were in Europe, screaming.

“The atmosphere was electric. It was a hard building to play in.”

Anthony Beauvillier’s Game Six overtime tally, beating netminder Andrei Vasilevskiy high glove side after a Blake Coleman turnover, sent the Coliseum into an absolute frenzy.

The rink was a disaster afterward.

The Islanders then had to go to Tampa for a Game Seven.

“We were all pissed off because we blew a 2-0 lead [in Game Six], and they scored what, like 10 seconds into overtime?” Maroon said.

The Islanders ended up losing Game Seven 1-0, allowing a shorthanded goal to Yanni Gourde early in the second period:

“Both teams played an unbelievable game,” Maroon said. “Game Seven was electric.”

However, this goal was controversial, as the Islanders believed that the Lightning had too many men on the ice:

Lazarus asked Maroon about the controversial too-many-men non-call that led to the only goal in Game Seven.

Maroon didn’t comment on his thoughts about it and instead broke the play down, saying Yanni Gourde slipped past everyone, and Cirelli found him open for the goal.
