The Golden Knights dominated a young Sharks team from start to finish, outshooting the California team 37-20. Cal Burke led the team in shots on goal with six and scored the opening goal of the game in the first period. Brendan Brisson and Christoffer Sedoff picked up the assists on the goal.

The Golden Knights upped the intensity in the second firing 13 shots on goal and limiting the Sharks to just five. Brett Howden and Tuomas Uronen each scored in the second period to give the Golden Knights a 3-0 lead.

The Sharks capitalized on two quick power plays in the third period with goals from first-overall pick Macklin Celebrini and Tyler Toffoli. Celebrini also picked up an assist on Toffoli’s goal.

Despite the Sharks’ push to tie the game, PTO signing Tanner Pearson scored an empty net goal to ensure the win.

The Golden Knights played a lineup filled with players fighting for the final roster spots and the overall performance showed it. They were hungry and did what HC Bruce Cassidy asked them to do. Akira Schmid and Isaiah Saville split the game, with Schmid stopping all eight shots he faced.

The Golden Knights will be back in action on Wednesday when they host the Los Angeles Kings.
