Sabres Camp Day #2: Dahlin Out A Couple Days With Injury

The Buffalo Sabres took to the ice for the second day of training camp workouts at Key Bank Center on Thursday, but without defenseman Rasmus Dahlin, who suffered an undisclosed injury on the opening day. Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff indicated after practice that the All-Star blueliner was doing well and that what is keeping him off the ice is not serious and will keep him off the ice for a couple of days.

Ruff did not provide any specifics of whether Dahlin will be available by Saturday when the Sabres open their exhibition schedule at home against the Pittsburgh Penguins, but it would likely be the team’s approach to be cautious with their top defenseman. The Sabres main NHL group practiced for over an hour and focused mostly on crashing the net in search of dirty goals, but Ruff has been stressing the defensive side as well.

“We worked really hard on the offensive side today and part of the drills are making sure we’re angling, getting above people, and we’re not giving up the type of goals we gave up (last season),” Ruff said. “At the same time, when you look at the comments (about) the frustration over the last year, you (have to) let that go and move on.”
