Five Burning Questions Heading Into 2024 Sharks Training Camp

1. What Is Logan Couture’s Health Status?

This is arguably the most prominent unknown heading into the 24-25 season. The news around the captain hasn’t been positive or negative this offseason. Couture said he would start skating in July, yet that doesn’t appear to be the case.

2. Tyler Toffoli Has A Letter, But What Will His Offensive Impact Be?

During Sharks Media Day, pictures of the marquee free agent signing Tyler Toffoli sporting an ‘A’ on his jersey surfaced.

The 32-year-old looks primed to start the year with No. 1 pick Mackin Celebrini as his center. San Jose has brought in veterans like Toffoli to help mold the top pick into a superstar.

While Toffoli will be needed to lead the team, he will also be relied upon to score goals. How many goals will he put up in his first season in Teal?

3. Will Collin Graf Make The Opening Night Lineup?

When Collin Graf signed with the Sharks last season, it came as a shock to some. That initial thought quickly disappeared when Graf talked about the opportunity he was given to jump straight to the NHL from the NCAA.

With seven NHL games of experience and an entire offseason of NHL training, Graf suddenly finds himself competing to make the NHL roster.

4. Will Yaroslav Askarov Force The Sharks Hand And Make The Opening Night Roster?

When GM Mike Grier acquired Yaroslav Askarov from the Nashville Predators, San Jose immediately got one of the best goalie prospects in the world.

That being said, the Sharks have Mackenzie Blackwood and Vitek Vanecek on NHL deals. Askarov is still not waiver-eligible, allowing the Sharks to move him to and from the AHL as needed.

Blackwood will likely be the opening night starter, but if Askarov really impresses at training camp, the Sharks might be forced to carry three goalies.
