After 1030 NHL games, former Los Angeles Kings defenseman Alex Edler is officially hanging up the skates.
Edler, a native of Östersund, Sweden, started his career with the Vancouver Canucks after being drafted by them in 2003.
He spent 15 seasons for Vancouver and collected 99 goals and 310 assists for a total of 409 points in 925 games. Edler was more known for being a defensive defenseman who played hard and out his body on the line. Which is why he also had 1751 blocks and, 1414 hits with the Canucks.
After his time came to an end in Vancouver, he signed with the Kings and played there for two seasons. During that time, he appeared in 105 games and scored five goals, 25 assists for 30 points, and also had 174 blocks and 162 hits.
The now-38-year-old, will be signing a one-day contract with the Canucks. Before ending his NHL career playing in 1030 games, scoring 104 goals, 335 assists for 439 points, 1925 blocks, and 1576 hits.
