Field Hockey To Host Letterwinner Celebration Weekend in October

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers field hockey will host the program’s annual Letterwinner Celebration Weekend next month. This year’s event will be held on the weekend of October 18-20. The Scarlet Knights will host a pair of games that weekend against Big Ten foes, facing Michigan State on Friday and Ohio State on Sunday. The program is excited to welcome back alumni of the program as the field hockey program celebrates 50 seasons of competition ‘On the Banks’.

The weekend opens with a game at 1 p.m. on Friday against Michigan State. On Saturday, October 19, Rutgers’ football program celebrates Homecoming Weekend with an afternoon game against UCLA at SHI Stadium. Rutgers’ letterwinners are invited to a pregame tailgate ahead of the football game.

On Sunday, the field hockey program hosts a game against No. 6 Ohio State, with a 12 p.m. game at Bauer. The team will host a pregame brunch at the Rutgers Club for letterwinners and their guests. Prior to the 12 p.m. contest, letterwinners will be invited onto the field to serve as anthem buddies, accompanying the team out to the field for the introductions of starting lineups. To RSVP for brunch, please email letterwinners@scarletknights.com.

The Letterwinners Celebration has become an annually anticipated event, with large groups of former student-athletes returning to their alma matter to take in a game and reunite with former teammates. This is set to be an exceptionally special celebration, with Rutgers’ honoring 50 years on the program ‘On the Banks’.

This season also sees two Rutgers field hockey alumni being inducted into the Hall of Fame as well. Former field hockey student-athletes Hallie Cohen and Maria Grant will be part of the 2024 Rutgers Athletic Hall of Fame Class. The Hall of Fame induction will take place on Thursday, September 26 at the East Brunswick Hilton with the inductees recognized on Friday, September 27 when Rutgers football hosts Washington at SHI Stadium.
