UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Nittany Lion true freshman Aby Deverka was named Big Ten Field Hockey Rookie of the Week for the week ending Sept. 15, 2024. The honor is the second of the year for Deverka in the first three weeks of the season.
Deverka made her fifth start in six games against No. 15 Princeton on Sunday as well. Deverka collected seven total saves, including shutting out the Tigers in the second half, as Penn State posted the 3-2 win. Deverka leads the Big Ten with 33 saves in five games played. She is 13th in the entire nation in saves per game at 6.60.
Penn State is 3-3 on the year. The Nittany Lions are at Bucknell on Sunday, Sept. 22, at 1 p.m. in their next outing.
