Syracuse Orange ice hockey: former Orange defender Mae Batherson drafted by PWHL champion Minnesota

The Professional Women’s Hockey League just completed their inaugural season and the two former Syracuse Orange who played (Allie Munroe with Toronto and Jessica DiGirolamo with Boston) could be joined by another former Orange player in season two.

Former Syracuse defender Mae Batherson was selected by the PWHL Champion Minnesota squad in the 6th round in this week’s PWHL Draft. If she is able to make the squad, she’d join the pro ranks with her brother Drake, who is a forward with the Ottawa Senators.

Batherson played four seasons in Syracuse before finishing her collegiate career at St. Lawrence. She scored 97 points in 157 career games and was the CHA Rookie of the Year in 2019-20 and a CHA First Team selection in 2022-23.

Digirolamo appeared in 32 games this season and totaled three points for the runner-up Boston squad. Munroe played in 29 games for Toronto scoring seven points.
