Here are the 2023-24 Taunton Daily Gazette Hockey All-Scholastics

Another high school hockey season has come and gone in the Greater Taunton area.

On the boys side, Taunton (15-8-1, 2-5-1 Hockomock League) led the way locally, utilizing a mix of youth and experience to make the Division 3 tournament and reach the Round of 32. Southeastern/Bristol-Plymouth (13-8, 9-1 Mayflower Athletic Conference) went on a 12-game unbeaten streak and made the Division 3 tournament, but fell to the Tigers in an all-Greater Taunton preliminary round showdown. Dighton-Rehoboth/Seekonk (11-9, 5-5 South Coast Conference) were once again potent offensively and made it to the Division 4 Round of 32. Bridgewater-Raynham (3-17) had a rebuilding year, but finished the season strong winning two of its last three games.

On the girls side, the expanded co-op of West Bridgewater/East Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raynham/Bristol-Plymouth/Southeastern/Middleboro (7-13) had some strong showings but fell just short of qualifying for the Division 1 tournament. Mansfield/Oliver Ames/Foxboro/Taunton (7-10-3, 3-5-0 Hockomock League), who played as the Hockomock Stars in 2022-23, also fell just short of the Division 1 tournament despite some solid performances.

With the winter season now in the rearview, here’s a final look back at the Greater Taunton area athletes who stood out among the crowd to earn their spot as 2023-24 Taunton Daily Gazette Hockey All-Scholastics.

The sophomore forward only furthered his scoring prowess this winter, leading the Greater Taunton area with 28 goals and 18 assists for a total of 46 points. A quick sharpshooter with a keen eye for goal, some of his most notable outings include a hat trick and three assists in both games against Greater New Bedford, a hat trick against Narragansett/Chariho (R.I.) and a pair of goals and an assist against Diman/Durfee/Westport.

An SCC All-Star, expect Bastis to continue to build and improve on his goalscoring capabilities and be a key part of the Falcon Warriors’ success over the next two years.

Girls Player of the Year

Abby Gropman, West Bridgewater/East Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raynham/Bristol-Plymouth/Southeastern/Middleboro

The eighth grade forward from Bridgewater Middle School hasn’t even entered high school, but has already established herself as a key piece of the Wild Viking offense. She led the six school co-op with 11 goals and six assists for a total of 17 points in her second season of high school hockey. Quick, elusive and with a…
