‘It stings and hurts’: Wisconsin’s Mark Johnson on loss to Ohio State
Wisconsin women’s hockey coach Mark Johnson spoke to reporters following his team’s 1-0 loss to Ohio State in the NCAA championship game Sunday.
MADISON – There will be a strong Wisconsin Badgers presence at the women’s hockey world championships.
Five players who were on the team this past season made the 25-player roster that was announced Sunday morning. The International Ice Hockey Federation women’s world championships will be held in Utica, New York, April 3-14.
Forwards Britta Curl, Lacey Eden, Laila Edwards and Kirstin Simms are joined on the team by defender Caroline Harvey.
Former UW star Hilary Knight will also play on the team.
The team is coached by Neenah native John Wroblewski. Former UW captain Sis Paulsen, UW’s director of hockey operations and equipment manager, will serve as an equipment manager.
Edwards and Simms are newcomers to the world championships.
Curl, Eden and Harvey represented the United States at the world championships previously.
* Harvey was part of the 2022 Olympic team that won a silver medal and was a member of world championship teams in 2023 (gold) and ’22 and ’21 (silver).
*This will be Eden’s fourth world championships. Like Harvey, she was also part of the 2023, ‘22 and ‘21 teams.
* This wil be Curl’s third world championships. She was part of the 2023 and ’21 teams.
