Two of the top ice hockey teams in the Downriver area battled it out in a late-season playoff tune-up of sorts on Tuesday as Trenton collided with its fellow Kennedy Recreation Center resident Grosse Ile.
Both teams came in with a combined 37 victories on the season. Trenton came in with a 5-0-1 mark in their last six games overall while Grosse Ile was looking to avoid a second loss in three games after previously winning 19 straight.
The de facto host Trojans ultimately proved to be too much for the folks from the island as they cruised to a 7-1 victory over the Red Devils.
