Third period surge leads No. 12 Westfield past Livingston

Alex Ebel scored twice for Westfield, No. 12 in NJ.com’s Top 20, to lead them to a 4-1 victory over Livingston in a NJIIHL McInnis Division matchup at Warinanco Park at Roselle.

Michael Wilson posted a goal and assist for Westfield (13-3-2), who have won six straight games to close out its regular season schedule.

After a scoreless first period, Mitchell Friedman scored a power-play goal for Livingston (8-9) in the 7:27 mark of the second period, while Ebel nailed an equalizer a minute later to make it a 1-1 game

Westfield would take control in the third period though, as Michael Wilson scored the go-ahead goal in the 13:19 mark, while Chris Smok scored with 8:31 left in regulation. Ebel would score an empty netter later in the period to secure the win.

Westfield goalie Andrew Raber made 27 saves on 28 shots faced.
