Cameron Rowe Named to Richter Award Watch List

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan senior goaltender Cameron Rowe has been named to the Mike Richter Award watch list, the Hockey Commissioners Association announced this afternoon.

Rowe is one of 32 players who will compete for the nation’s top honor for goalies. A committee of voters — made up of a cross section of coaches, administrators, scouts and media — will pare this list down to approximately 15 names within the next three weeks and then ultimately choose the winner who will be announced in April during the NCAA Frozen Four.

The Wilmette, Ill. native has been outstanding this season for WMU, starting every game so far this season. In 18 games, he has posted a 13-4-1 record, 2.11 goals against average, .917 save percentage and two shutouts.

Rowe ranks top 10 in the nation in wins, win percentage, goals against average and shutouts. He is 18th in save percentage. Throughout the season, the senior goaltender has picked up various awards, including NCHC Goaltender of the Month in November.

He has helped Western Michigan go 9-1 over the last 10 games, with the Broncos’ only loss coming in overtime to then No. 4 Denver. In those last 10 games, Rowe has produced a 9-1-0 record, two shutouts, 1.60 goals against average, .936 save percentage and 234 saves.

Rowe and the Broncos are in action this weekend taking on Miami at Goggin Ice Center. The series opener is set for tonight at 7 p.m.
