SOUTH BEND, Ind. – For the second consecutive year, graduate Irish netminder Ryan Bischel has been named to the Mike Richter Award Watchlist. The 6-1 Medina, Minnesota native earned the start in goal ahead of the 2022-23 season and has started every contest for the Notre Dame team since.
This season, the fifth-year goaltender boasts the fourth-best save percentage in the nation, at .926, and ranks second in the Big Ten Conference. His 654 saves is second-best in the country while owning a .243 goals against average.
The 2023 Big Ten Conference Goaltender of the Year and Mike Richter Award semifinalist, Bischel was tabbed to the Preseason All-Big Ten team ahead of his final season with the Irish.
Bischel currently ranks sixth all-time in program history for career shutouts, boasting 10 after picking up three blankings through the first half of the year.
