Preview: Women's Ice Hockey to host #14 Northeastern for pair of conference games

ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine women’s ice hockey team will host the #14 ranked Northeastern Huskies for a pair of conference games Jan. 12/23 at Alfond Arena. The pair of Hockey East games is the team’s last home games until February. Puck drop is set for 6:00 PM on Friday, Jan. 12, and 4:00 PM on Saturday, Jan. 13.

Previous Matchup facts: 

  • The Black Bears and Huskies have yet to face off this season. 
  • Last season, the Black Bears stole one of the three games from Northeastern, when the Huskies were ranked #3 in the nation. 
  • The overall record for the teams is 8-23-2 in favor of Northeastern. 

Notes on the (RV) Black Bears:

  • Maine has been receiving votes for the last five weeks in the national polls.  
  • The Black Bears are currently seventh in the Hockey East standings, fighting close behind the three-way tie of Vermont, Boston University and Vermont.
  • Maine most recently dropped a close game to Boston University on Monday night, by a score of 3-4. 
  • The Black Bears played catch up majority of the game and struggled to come back completely, but put up a fight until the final buzzer.
  • Goal scorers in the game were Ann-Frederique Guay, Rahel Enzler and Mikayla Boarder.
  • Julia Bachetti played in net for the Black Bears, making 26 saves on 30 shots.
