UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The No. 15 Penn State women’s ice hockey team is set to take on non-conference opponent No. 13 Yale at Pegula Ice Arena this weekend with a two-game series. The series begins on Friday at 6 p.m.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS

  • Yale is currently 8-6-0 overall and 7-5-0 in Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) play. They are ranked No. 13 in the latest USCHO poll.
  • Leading the Bulldogs on offense is Elle Hartje who has recorded five goals and 14 assists for 19 points this season.
  • In between the pipes is Pia Dukaric with a .901 save percentage with 246 saves this season.
  • The Bulldogs are coming off a sweep of Brown on Dec. 2-3 where they defeated the bears 3-1 and 4-2. 

SERIES HISTORY

  • Penn State and Yale will meet for the fourth and fifth times this weekend.
  • Yale currently leads the series 2-0-1 with their last meeting in November 2022 in Connecticut.

  • Penn State returns to the USCHO rankings at 15 after their series versus Robert Morris.
  • The Nittany Lions started out ranked No. 11 in the preseason poll.

JANECKE LEADS NATION IN FACEOFF WINS

  • Sophomore forward Tessa Janecke is number in Division I women’s hockey faceoff wins.
  • Janecke has won 317 faceoffs over 18 games this season.
  • Other rankings include Janecke tied for seventh in assists per game with 18, and forward Brianna Brooks ranked 45th in faceoff wins.

KAMPERSAL IN TOP 10 WINNINGEST COACHES

  • Head coach Jeff Kampersal is now the fifth winningest women’s ice hockey coach of all time.
  • Kampersal has won 434 games as head coaches at Penn State (2017-present) and Princeton (1996-2017).
