BOSTON – The Penn State women’s ice hockey team captured two College Hockey America Monthly awards on Tuesday afternoon. Tessa Janecke and Stella Retrum each picked up their first monthly honor this season.
Janecke, who was named Forward of the Month, accumulated 15 points off four goals and 11 assists in the month of November. She scored all four goals in the two-game series at Dartmouth which included a hat-trick on Nov. 25. She led all the Nittany Lions in points and assists and tallied three multi-point games in the six games in the month. On the season, Janecke has recorded five goals and 17 assists for 22 points.
Retrum earned her first CHA Rookie of the Month honor after an impressive 11 point showing in the month of November. She tallied five goals and six assists in six games played and recorded a multi-point game in four of the six games. Three of the goals she scored came on Nov. 25 at Dartmouth when she recorded her first career hat-trick. On the season, Retrum sits second on the team in points with 13 off six goals and seven assists.
Penn State returns to action on Friday, December 1 when they begin a two-game series at home against Robert Morris. Puck-drop is set for 2 p.m.
