Just one game on Saturday’s Premier Hockey Federation schedule between the league’s two Canadian teams.
Montreal Force 3, Toronto Six 0
Tricia Deguire turned aside all 39 shots faced to record the first shutout in Force franchise history. The save total is a new career-high and also marks the first time T6 has ever been blanked on home ice. Samantha Isbell scored the game’s first goal at 15:03 of the second period, finding the loose puck in the crease and sliding it past Elaine Chuli. The Toronto netminder was solid in her own right, stopping 32 shots in defeat. The Six pressed throughout the final frame and even earned a penalty shot opportunity when Lexi Templeman was hauled down with 3:23 remaining in regulation. Michela Cava took the T6 attempt but her shot was denied by Deguire to keep the score 1-0. Montreal made it 2-0 shortly after when Sarah Lefort capitalized on a power play with 2:09 on the clock, and 3-0 when captain Ann-Sophie Bettez scored an empty-net goal with 22 seconds to go. The win lifts Montreal into sole possession of fifth place, just seven points behind fourth place Connecticut.
