COLUMBUS, Ohio – Three Buckeyes have garnered Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) player of the week awards following Ohio State’s sweep of Lindenwood, the conference announced Monday. First-time weekly award recipients Quinn Kuntz and Sydney Morrow earned Goaltender of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively. Makenna Webster picked up Forward of the Week honors.

Webster had a successful trip back to her hometown last weekend, recording six points and a team-high five goals against Lindenwood. She earned the Buckeyes’ first hattrick of the season, a natural hattrick, in Saturday’s shutout win over the Lions. The junior scored the final three of the team’s six goals. She tallied one of Ohio State’s four power play goals and led the squad with a +7 on ice in the series. The award is her first as a Buckeye.

Kuntz, a senior netminder for the Buckeyes, played both games against Lindenwood, earning two consecutive starts for the first time in her career. She recorded her second shutout of the season, and of her career, in Saturday’s 6-0 win. Overall, she made 25 stops in the series, including 14 in Friday’s 9-1 win. Kuntz improves to 3-0-0 on the year for Ohio State. The Buckeyes have now shut out their opponents five times this season.

A freshman from Darien, Conn., Morrow led the Ohio State newcomers with two points in the series. She tallied two assists to bring her season total to five assists and eight points. The defenseman helped the Buckeyes hold Lindenwood to just 26 shots on goal the entire weekend. With her help, the Buckeye blueline allowed Lindenwood less than 15 shots on goal in each game of the series and has now kept opponents to 15 or less shots on goal in nine games this season.

Next up for the Buckeyes is a matchup against No. 2 Wisconsin set for Jan. 13-14 in Columbus. Puck drop is set for 6 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday. Admission and parking for Ohio State women’s hockey games is free.
