COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 1 Ohio State women’s hockey team closes out the first half of the 2022-23 season with a New Year’s series at Lindenwood on Dec. 30 and 31 in Maryland Heights, Mo. The Buckeyes (16-2-2, 13-2-1 WCHA) and Lions (2-14-0, 2-4-0 CHA) will face off at 8:10 p.m. ET Friday and 3:10 p.m. ET Saturday from the Centene Community Ice Center.

Both games of the series will be streamed on FloHockey (subscription required).

Buckeyes in a Nutshell

  • Prior to the holiday break, Ohio State earned a sweep of No. 10 Cornell on the road. The Buckeyes won the first game, 4-3, before shutting out the Big Red, 4-0, in game two.
  • After six straight games against top-10 ranked opponents, the Buckeyes are now 6-2-2 against ranked opponents this season.
  • Head coach Nadine Muzerall named Sophie Jaques an alternate captain ahead of the Buckeyes’ last outing at Cornell. Jaques becomes the fourth Buckeye captain for the 2022-23 squad, joining fellow fifth-year alternates Paetyn Levis and Gabby Rosenthal and captain Emma Maltais.
  • This weekend’s series marks just the sixth time in program history the Buckeyes will play on New Year’s Eve and the first time since the 2011-12 season.
  • Levis notched her 100th career point in the series against Cornell, making her the 15th skater in program to hit the century mark. She is the sixth player in five seasons to reach 100 career points.
  • The Buckeyes hold the top spot in both national polls following their off week. Ohio State is receiving 292 votes and 13 first-place votes in the DCU/USCHO.com poll and 273 votes, including nine first-place votes, in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll.
  • After a two point weekend against Cornell, Jaques remains Ohio State’s top point producer through 20 games this season. She has tallied 29 points on 13 assists and a team and nation-high 16 goals.
  • Jenn Gardiner is one point behind Jaques with 28 and leads the Buckeyes with 20 assists. Her 20 helpers rank second in the country, one shy of the leader. She is three points from the century mark with 97 (40 G, 57 A) for her career.
  • Raygan Kirk paces the Ohio State goaltending group with a .918 save percentage in eight starts for the Buckeyes this season. She has earned a 6-1-1 record in net…
