Ryan Kratz scored a hat trick as Clifton’s quick strike offense dominated in a 9-3 win over Newton-Lenape Valley, at Skylands Ice World in Stockholm.
Newton-Lenape Valley (1-3) took a 2-0 lead to start the game on a power play goal by Justin Zappe and an even strength goal from Brayden Dabrowski
Clifton (1-2-1) came right back though and closed out the opening period with goals from Leo Marzullo and Kratz to tie the score at 2-2.
Dabrowski scored his second just over 30 seconds into the second period to give Newton-Lenape Valley a 3-2 lead. But in a span of just over three minutes from 8:24 to 5:03 Clifton though countered with a power play goal by Jonathan Montana, Kratz’s second goal, and another Montana goal to take a 5-3 lead into the third period.
From 12:37 to 10:23 of the third period Trevor Rascher scored twice and Kratz netted his third goal to give Clifton an 8-3 lead. Zack Guiffrida scored the final goal of the net with less than five minutes left to put Clifton up 9-3.
Clifton scored nine goals on 34 shots, against just three goals on 17 shots for Newton-Lenape Valley.
