MADISON, Wis. – Two former and three current UW women’s hockey players will be representing Team USA in the December games of the Rivalry Series, USA Hockey announced Monday.
Former Badgers Hilary Knight and Abby Roque will be joined by current UW student-athletes Jesse Compher, Lacey Eden and Caroline Harvey during the two-game series against Canada on December 15 and 19.
The five Badgers all represented Team USA earlier this season at the 2022 IIHF Women’s World Championship, leading the U.S. to silver at the tournament, while Knight and Roque both suited up for Team USA during the three-game series against Canada in November.
In addition, UW Director of Operations/Equipment Manager Sis Paulsen and athletic trainer Stefanie Arndt were selected to the USA Hockey staff for the series. Paulsen rejoins Team USA after serving on the staff of both the 2021 and 2022 IIHF Women’s World Champions and the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.
The five Badger players will face a Hockey Canada squad that also features five Badgers in Kristen Campbell, Emily Clark, Ann-Renee Desbiens, Sarah Nurse and Blayre Turnbull.
The rivalry continues on Dec. 15, 2022, in Henderson, Nevada at The Dollar Loan Center, and on Dec. 19, 2022, in Los Angeles, California at Crypto.com Arena. The game on Thursday, Dec. 15 will start at 9 p.m. CT while the December series finale will begin at 10 p.m. CT and both games can be seen live on NHL Network.
